In a loaded rain day, law minister Juan Guzmán Tapia constituted itself yesterday in the commune of San Fabian of Alico , that instructs a criminal complaint against Augusto Pinochet and Paul Schäfer, by the disappearance of the American mathematician Boris Weisfeiler.

The academic, who taught in the University of Pennsylvania and was fanatical of the long walks outdoors, traveled in December 1984 to Los Angeles, from where he went in a bus to Antuco on December 25. From there he walked towards the north, arriving at the sector of the de la Puntilla (the joining of rivers Ñuble and Los Sauces) on January 4, 1985. There he was sighted by a farmer who warned him of the fact of Customs officers of the post El Roble.

Those, thinking that it could be a rebel who had entered from Argentina, started off in their search, to which a patrol of the four military, of the Chacabuco regiment and the Logistic battalion of Conception, added itself later, they were in the place reviewing the border landmarks.

Nevertheless, Weisfeiler, who was Jewish and had been born in Russia, did not appear by part some, in spite of the trackings that took place in the later days. January 15 were found his knapsack and a month later, almost was dispatched to the U.S.A. that a body was floating in the Nuble river, but that corresponded to another person. Chilean justice closed the case months later, considering that the foreigner presumably had suffocated when trying to cross on foot the confluence, action that would be quite stupid, mainly because there exists a ferry cable...

In 1986 a Chilean approached the consulate of the U.S.A. who claimed to be active military man and to have comprised of the patrol that supposedly kidnapped of Weisfeiler, was accusing him to be a spy of the Mossad - Israeli secret service . According to the presumed military man, who gave at least four testimonies in which it mixed real facts with fantasies - because in 1987 Michael Townley lived in Colony Dignity -, that Weisfeiler was spying on the arrival of Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele to Colony Dignity, although according to the official information Mengele died in 1979 in the beach of Embu, in Brazil, where he lived his last years, after having been residing in Argentina and Paraguay.

After obtaining that the Second Court of Letters of San Carlos reopened the case, the lawyer Hernán Fernandez, who represents Olga Weisfeiler, the sister of the mathematician, who resides in Newton, United States, presented/displayed the complaint against Schäfer - to whom, according to the version of the anonymous informant Weisfeiler have been given, and of Pinochet, since, according to the same source, in all the operative one the National Central disappear of Informaciones (CNI), that would have taken part it depended on Pinochet.

Yesterday, judge Guzmán constituted itself in the sector of the ferry cable - where later "the last witness who was seeing Weisfeiler alife hung himself" - and crossed all the sector, besides to interview some villagers. One does not discard that he continues tomorrow with this task and that in the next weeks carries out a reconstruction of scene with the military supposedly implied, who already were interrogated by personnel of the Department Fifth of the Police of Investigations.
